Abstract

KUCUK, M. and E. EYDURAN, 2009. The determination of the best growth model for Akkaraman and German Blackheaded Mutton x Akkaraman B1 crosbreed lambs. Bulg. J. Agric. Sci., 15: 90-92

The present paper aimed to determine the most suitable growth model for Akkaraman and German Blackheaded Mutton x Akkaraman B1 crosbreed lambs using various growth models (Monomolecular, Logistic, and Gompertz growth models). Coefficient of determination and Root Mean Square Error (RMSE) were used to the best growth model. The data were composed of 30 Akkaraman breed (Genotype I) and 25 German Blackheaded Mutton x Akkaraman B1 crosbreed lambs (Genotype II). Body weights of lambs were recorded monthly from birth to 180th days of age.
It was concluded that the most suitable growth model for two genotypes was found to be monomolecular growth model.

Key words: Akkaraman, German Blackheaded Mutton, Growth, non-linear model
