TSVETKOV, St., K. TSVETKOV, I. STOEVA and St. DIMITROV, 2006. Productivity and bread making quality of substituted triticale and triticale with full rye genome (2n = 6x = 42). Bulg. J. Agric. Sci., 12: 525-529
The future triticale (2n = 6x = 42), as the new cereal crop of the 21 st century, will depend to a maximum degree on its production potential and the possibility to produce a new type of whole meal "rye" bread with increased nutrition value. Averaged for a period of 4 years (1993-1997) in the State Varietal Testing, winter triticale variety Rakita (2n = 6x = 42) with full rye genome exceeded with 5.2 % by productivity the winter triticale variety Vihren (2n = 6x = 42) with substituted chromosomes. By bread loaf and bread making quality the winter triticale Vihren was closer to wheat than to rye bread. The bread from triticale Rakita was in an intermediate position between that made from rye Danae and triticale Vihren.
