Abstract

PETKOV, N., Z. PETKOV, Y. VASILEVA, A. MATEI, L. MARGHITAS and G. DINITA, 2004. Genetic-selection parameters of main productive characters of genetically sex-marked silkworm (Bombyx mori L.) lines. I. Average phenotypic values and variability. Bulg. J. Agric. Sci., 10: 357-361

This study was made to analyze the average phenotypic values and variability of main productive characters in some new created genetically sex marked silkworm lines. It was determined that silkworm lines, namely Vratza2001(genetically marked at eggs stage) and Vratza2002, Vratza2003, Vratza2005 and Vratza2009 (genetically sex marked at larva stage) are characterized with 98.27-98.81% hatchability, 94.00-96.61% pupal rate, 1987-2318mg cocoon weight, 407-518mg shell weight, 20.48-22.62% silk ratio of fresh cocoons and 37.307- 43.787 kg yield of fresh cocoon per 1 box of silkworms. Comparatively low coefficient of variability for all tested technological characters of fresh cocoons (VC<15%) manifested and inform us for good phenotype lines equalization and possibilities for creation of new high-productive F1 industrial hybrids with their participation.

Key words: silkworm, Bombyx mori L., genetically sex-marked lines, variability
