Saturn 2 is winter type durum wheat and was breed in Dobroudja Agricultural Institute in General Toshevo. It belongs systematically to the species Triticum turgidum L. conv. durum Desf. var. leucomelon Al. Saturn 2 is typical short – stemmed durum wheat with plant height of 88.3 cm, very good resistance to lodging, and with high yield potential and agronomic performance. It shows an extremely high laboratory resistance to leaf and stem rust and powdery mildew and yielded an average of 19.4 % more than standard Zagorka in 3 years in the State Variety Testing. Saturn 2 has very strong gluten and is an excellent raw material for pasta manufacture.
