Over 260 cucumber plant introduction (PI) lines, breeding lines and varieties were evaluated in the greenhouse for resistance to powdery mildew caused by Sphaerotheca fuliginea race 1. Resistance was found in 10 breeding lines, 10 F1 hybrids and 15 accessions most of them originating from Asia. The accessions PI 192940, 73-508, Nanchi White Spine, Linia 75-6, Bursa 94-16, Polaris DPM, Linia 61 and Poinsett were suitable sources combining resistance to powdery mildew with good fruit quality.
