An electron microscopic study was carried out on the morphological changes of in vitro stored Muscovy spermatozoa at temperature 0–4°C for 6 hours in undiluted and diluted semen with IMV– buffer, HIA – 1 and AU (v/v 1+1). The spermatozoa in diluted semen preserved better morphological and functional state – over 70% motility. The sperm anomalies ranged mostly swollen of the plasmalemma and tail in the principal and midpiece – swelling form. The disruptions in the mitochondrial sheath were in different rate and expressed in swelling of mitochondria to matrix lysis. For all that some spermatozoa were scanned bending in the region between the head and tail with affected morphological structure of the flagelum. There were no significant differences of the protective effect in respect of the using extenders on spermatozoa ultrastructure.
