Abstract

UCHKUNOVA, K., 2004. Heterosis of economic and technological traits in sugar beet hybrids including tolerance to rhizomania. Bulg. J. Agric. Sci., 10: 557-561

A new generation of varieties has been created during the past years, including tolerant to rhizomania, because of genetically regulated heterosis in sugar beet. Up to now there is no data on heterosis effect in tolerance to rhizomania hybrids. The objective of this study was to trace the rhizomania effect in different types of crosses, including tolerance to rhizomania, by 12 qualitative traits.
The hybrids were estimated by the heterosis degree as follows: real (HP), hypothetical (MP) and competitive (St). It was proved that 2x and 3x hybrids tolerant of rhizomania performed real and hypothetical heterosis effect by root yield. Competitive heterosis effect (St) by white sugar yield was observed only in 3x hybrids' tolerance to rhizomania.

Key words: heterosis, hybrid, rhizomania
