This research was made during 1996-1997 in the practical and research field of Tekirdag Agricultural Faculty in Turkey. The aim of this research was to determine some physical and mechanical properties of sunflower such as stalk shear force, bending strength, modulus of elasticity, and hull breaking which are specially affected during sunflower harvesting. The summary results of this experiment are as follows:
The values of stalk shear force, bending strength, and modulus of elasticity were changed according to stalk moisture content and diameter. Breaking force of sunflower seed hulls changed according to position (vertical and horizontal) and moisture content of seeds.
