PETKOV, Z., 2003. About new methods for mulberry vegetative resources investigation. 3. Methods for economical assessment of mulberry forms. Bulg. J. Agric. Sci., 9: 113–117
For unification of mulberry resources evaluation in Bulgaria a new method is requisite, consistent with increased progress of investigation-introduction process (Petkov, 2000). New market practices are lead to necessity of adequate economical decisions, in term of principles of market economics. Shortcomings of now used methods for mulberry variety evaluation are that they do not take enough notice of economical traits in mulberry forms evaluation. Long-standing observations and studies at Sericultural Experiment Station, Vratza mulberry germplasm, some elements from studies by Dandin and Jolly (1988), Lazarov (1988), Nedev et al. (1979) and some parts of methods for mulberry leaf utilization by silkworm (Tzenov, 1996; Tzenov and Petkov, 1995) have been used. The complete methods for economical assessment of mulberry forms includes the followed main parts: 1. Balance of dry matter, produced from 1 ha of mulberry plantation. 2. Utilization of mulberry leaves by silkworms. 3. General silkworm productivity. 4. Economical effectiveness of production. The present methods will unificate the investigations and valuation of mulberry varieties and forms and afford an opportunity for their characterization in details. It could take place in variety testing activity and moriculture researches.
