Synthesis and Growth-regulating Activity of Some New 2-alkyl- and Arylthiosemicarbazido-4-hydroxy-pyrimidines

Some new 2-alkyl– and arylthiosemicarbazido-4-hydroxy-pyrimidines were synthesized, and the interrelation between the “chemical structure – biological activity” of the substances was investigated. All tested compounds were characterized by distinct inhybitory activity to monocotyledonous test wheat in the highest examined concentration 10–3M. Their effect on the photochemical activity of the chloroplasts in Hill's reaction was also investigated. The photochemical activity is in agreement with the data about the inhibitory activity of the tested pyrimidines in relation to the monocotyledonous test-wheat. All the compounds were shown to posses growth-stimulatory activity to the both test-objects mainly in the lower concentrations 10–5 and 10–6 M. The cytokinin activity of the new compounds was also established.
