Inheritance of Some Characters and Heterosis Effect in Semi-sugar Beet Hybrids

Data of parental components and their semi-sugar beet hybrids (2x and 3x) tests are used to be determined the way of inheritance of root yield and dry matter content, and the values of the heterosis effect in the crosses between sugar and fodder beets.
The root yield of the fodder beet pollinator dominates in the tested semi-sugar beet hybrids. An incomplete dominance of the higher dry matter content of the maternal component is registered in the diploid hybrids. Incomplete dominance to dominance of the lower dry matter content of the tetraploid fodder beet pollinator is the way of inheritance of this character in the triploid crosses.
The highest values of the heterosis effect are counted for the hybrids of the tetraploid fodder beet pollinator TR and for the crosses of the diploid monogerm sugar beet male sterile line 19–66.
