Bulgarian agriculture has good natural resources and some of its sectors have always been market oriented. The transition period from a centrally planned to a market economy had a negative effect on some aspects of agriculture, including the international competitiveness of the local products. The purpose of this article is to study the main factors, influencing the agrarian trade, to make a survey of the trade flow and the major trade partners in the 1990-is and to appreciate the foreign trade measures.
