Abstract

BOIKOVSKI, S., G. STEFANOVA and D. GEORGIEVA, 2001. Heritability and repeatability of the traits in sheep from Blackhead Pleven breed depending on the type and mating. Bulg. J. Agric. Sci., 7: 511-520

As a result of the study, it was established that the heritability coefficients with moderate to high values, of the trait average daily and total milk yield for complete and 200-day standard lactation showed that the mass selection of them would be effective in sheep from different type of mating.
The low values of the coefficients of heritability, repeatability and genotypic correlations of the trait biological fertility indicated that the mass selection on this trait in the studied herd would be of slight effectiveness. The body weight at weaning should not be underestimated, because it gives information about the body development of sheep at further ages.

Key words: milk yield, heritability, repeatability, genotypic correlations, mating
