Abstract

TOMLEKOVA, N., T. CHOLAKOV, I. PORIYAZOV and P. IVANOV, 1999. Distribution of phaseolin types of common beans Phaseolus vulgaris L. depending on physical and geographical conditions of the territory of Bulgaria. Bulg. J. Agric. Sci., 5: 713-718

A total of 235 samples of Phaseolus vulgaris L., representative of most of the geographical and ecological areas of Bulgaria, have been analyzed to establish the dependencies between the spatial distribution of gene pool groups (meso-American and Andean) and altitude above sea level, the humidification coefficient and the climatic distribution of the areals of origin.
The effect of physical and geographical conditions shows some tendencies, but clearly defined trends of the participation of representatives of the meso-American and Andean groups that can be statistically confirmed, were observed only for separate areas of humidification coefficients and zones of altitude above sea level. These tendencies refer to the phaseolin types only in terms of altitudes above sea level. The results of the study are presented on a map indicating the 69 locations of sample collection and diagrams of sample distribution grouped according to gene pools by climatic conditions.

Key words: Phaseolus vulgaris L., gene pools, phaseolin
